Steps to Reading
1. Point finger & match written words with spoken words
2.  Learn 26/26 sight words and become confident at using pictures to support reading
3. Use a number of strategies to attempt unknown words: look at pictures & think about what make sense; look at the first letter/sound; reread the sentence; read past the word to get a better sense of the whole sentence; and use your finger under the word to look at the sounds left to right.
4. Develop fluency, phrasing and comprehension.
